THE REBELS
Author: BRITTANY JO JAMES
Genre: THRILLER/SUSPENSE/ROMANCE
SYNOPSIS:
Happiness is only reserved for the upper class in the United States of America.
As a military wife who spends most of her time working for minimum wage, Temper Jensen can attest to that. Finding a spare moment to spend with her husband, Voss, is a luxury she can hardly afford.
Everything changes when the citizens realize that the president of the country is nothing more than a terrorist bent on total domination. Freedom no longer exists for the citizens of the United States of America and all who dare defy their new rulers are considered rebels of the nation.
Temper knows what she must do, even if it means being separated from Voss in order to save his life. Risking everything, she runs home to her moonshine-brewing anarchist daddy’s home in southwest Arkansas to collect a congregation of rebels to fight back. No one can be trusted, especially Temper’s devious ex-boyfriend who won’t take ‘no’ for an answer.
Can Temper reunite with her husband, keep her wayward family out of trouble, and restore the USA to the nation under God that it was intended to be — or will freedom as we know it be lost forever?

This book is so much different than any other book that I have read this year. It addresses something that is always in the back of my mind, that could possibly happen, and it scares the crap out of me. I only hope that if the things in this book did happen to our country that I would be a BAD-ASS chick like Temper.
In my opinion this book really isn't a romance, but it does show the devotion of a wife for her husband, her country and her GOD. Right off the bat you know that Temper is quite what she thinks she is. She sees herself as a timid, quite woman and boy is she wrong. Everyone sees her as so much more, she just needed the right push to really come out of her shell. She is strong in her convictions and is determined to make a stand for her country and God. We see a transformation in Temper immediately when the SPIT hits the fan.
She becomes a bad-ass chick who is ready to fight for her beliefs and to bring her country and it citizens back from the rulers. During her escape she is separated from her husband and makes her way home and it is there that she decides that they need to take a stand. They decide that they will travel the country and try to group together to over throw the rulers or at the very least get her husband back. You see her growing stronger as she makes her journey to find her husband and to gather more rebels.
I really loved Temper. She is such a smart and convicted person. I enjoyed watching her lead the group of rebels and the way she talked to people she came across them. She didn't know if she could trust them or not, but she still stood strong even if it was with false confidence.
I am not going to give anything away, but it is a MUST read. There is plenty of action and it definitely sucks you in. I could not wait to find out what happens in the end.
