**I received an ARC for an honest review.**
This book has a great premise and is a bit mysterious and suspenseful, but I just did not really connect with the characters or the story until the end.
I am not sure how I feel about Brie and what she is going through. I feel for her and all that she has been through I just feel like there is too much mystery that is surrounded her and her relationship with Adrian and there is not enough light shed on it by the end of this book. I was left wanting more answers and not really in a good way. During this book I hated Adrian and was suspicious of him right from the start of their relationship, but I feel like there should have been more revealed about him. Brie should have more answers and I want and need more answers.
Rafe. I like his protective nature over Brie, but I missed their connection. It just seemed he walks into her home and then BAM, things are now so much different. I just didn't feel their beginning spark, it seemed like it came from nowhere. I wanted it to be played on more and it seemed like the majority of this book did not reveal anything that satisfied my curiosity. I would have liked more in Rafe's POV also just to connect with his character a bit more. I felt like there was a gap in completely connecting with him.
I still don't know who Rafe is or where he came from and why is he all of sudden in Brie's life. I don't anything more about Adrian other than he did show some remorse and seemed to be conflicted on what has happened, but still no solid answers. I am so confused for Brie because we meet her in the same fashion as we finish this book and she is still completely clueless. The only thing that seemed to be remedied in this book is Brie's decision to leave Adrian and move on with her life and even that did not play out like I thought.
The ending of this book and the sneak peek into Escalation is what will have me continuing this story. I really enjoyed the last 10% of this book and I will definitely continue this series to find out how it goes.

A devilish, almost villainous grin graced his lips as his eyes filled with amusement. “Oh, Gabriella, you’ve no idea,” he said. “I shouldn’t do this. I shouldn’t be here, but I can’t seem to help myself.”
His words caught me off guard as his hands gripped my hips and he pushed me backwards until the brick of the wall bit into the skin of my lower back. He leaned down until his lips were dangerously close to mine. My insides quivered, and my heart leaped into my throat. For an entire week, I’d been waiting for his hands to be on me again, and now that he was right there, I knew I’d die if he didn’t touch me. Kiss me. Take me home and ravish me like he had that first night.
“Adrian,” I whispered, surprised at the breathy, sultry tone of my voice. God, it’d only been a week and I was already dangerously addicted to him.
His eyes gleamed as if he could read my mind, and I wondered if this has been his plan all along. To give me a taste, a perfect sneak peek at what being his would be like, and then take it away, only to keep showing up to tease me. To dangle the proverbial carrot on the string that was too high for me to get a taste or even the slightest nibble. It would suffice only for a moment, but it would be just enough to keep me from going insane. He was a deranged Pavlov and I was his little dog, salivating and panting, wanting him, that torturous bell ringing over and over again, but instead of giving me what I wanted, he kept it too far out of reach.
