Synopsis
Avery and Nicole's story.
Avery Scott is a hopeless romantic, the complete opposite of his best friend, Easton. For most of his life, he’s been searching for that someone special to spend the rest of his life with. The problem is, he’s had nothing but bad first dates with crazy women he’s met online or at his bar, Halo. When he hears about a singles cruise, his plan is to meet a lot of single women, to test the waters, but when a blonde consumes his every thought, he throws that plan overboard.
Nicole Chambers has had her fair share of heartbreaks. She’s tired of being single or dating guys with girlfriends. She wants to find The One. So she convinces her best friend, Brooke, to go on a singles cruise with her. What she doesn’t expect is to fall head over heels with the first guy she meets.
But what happens once the cruise ends?
Life isn’t always fairytales and rainbows…
And meeting The One doesn’t always mean finding your happily ever after. Because life can give you a precious gift and then dangle it in front of your eyes and you’re left questioning where to go with your future—or if you even have one.
Review
5 out of 5 STARS
**I receiving an ARC from the Author for an honest review.**
This is my first book by this author. I know that it is recommended to read Tattooed Dots (Halo #1) but I was not lost at all while reading, although it does make me extremely curious and now I want to read book 1 when I have time.
This book is a sweet, funny and SEXY read. I LOVE the leading male character Avery and I also love his best friend Easton. (Another reason to read book 1) Avery is an honest character and I love that about him. I love that he is in love with love and finding "the one". I also love that he wears like a badge of honor and doesn't hide his true feelings and what he wants and it turns out what he wants is Nicole. I absolutely LOVED her character also. She is funny and so very sweet. I loved her loving personality and the devotion she showed to her friends, especially Brooke. I loved Avery and Nicole together right off the bat. You felt the spark when they first meet and it never ever went away. I loved that their love grew so fast and that neither one of them shied away from it. But as most romances go it is not always sunshine, flowers, hugs and kisses. Some pretty heave emotional things happen during the course of this book. They are easy to overcome, but the characters handle them to the best of their ability.
I won't go on and accidentally give something away, but I will say that this book is worth the read. Especially if you love all of the things that I mentioned above.
Excerpt
“Come with me for a second?” Avery asked, whispering into my ear.
I shivered as his breath tickled my ear, causing goose bumps. I looked up at him silently questioning where he wanted to take me, but really, it didn’t matter. “Okay.” I stood.
“We’re going for a walk,” Avery murmured to Brooke and Easton. They barely registered what he’d said. Brooke was laughing with Easton—something that I hadn’t seen her do in a long time. Even her beautiful brown eyes had a twinkle to them.
“Where are we going?” I asked as we started to walk through the crowd.
“This way.”
He linked our hands as we walked to the lounge through the doors that led to the side deck. It was quiet, just a few people making out. We stood against the railing looking out into the open water. All I could see was the Pacific Ocean. No birds. No land—just calm blue water and the ship making little waves as we parted the water.
The heat from Avery’s body radiated off him as his left arm pressed into my right. I wanted more than just his arm touching me. I wanted to know what his mouth felt like on mine. I wanted to know the way he tasted, and the way his hands felt on my body.
“It’s crazy that we’re surrounded by nothing but water,” I said, the wind whisking around us causing my hair to fly in my face.
“Yeah, it is.”
I looked over at him as he spoke, his mouth moving closer with each word. I licked my lips, anticipating the moment his mouth met mine. The seconds felt like hours, and everything was in slow motion as he leaned down, brushing my hair aside with his hand before his lips finally met mine.
It started off slow, like he was testing the waters, testing my reaction. I felt his tongue slip out between his lips, silently asking me to open to him. I moaned, doing what he asked and opened up, allowing his tongue to slip in and take a swipe to taste me. I’d never had a kiss be so slow. So passionate. So right.
Avery’s lips were soft and they fit perfectly with mine. Like they were made for me to kiss…only me.
My hands reached up, running through his silky hair, our bodies stepping closer to one another until they were flush. I felt Avery’s arousal and if he could feel mine, he’d know I want to do more than kiss.
Just as our kiss intensified, we were bumped hard into the railing. I broke our kiss, looking at the couple stumbling as they tried to walk. They didn’t even bother to say they were sorry for running into us.
“Are you okay?” Avery asked.
“Yeah.”
“We should get back to our friends,” he said with a tight smile. Avery looked as bummed as I felt about the assholes breaking up our kiss.
“Yeah.”
He reached down and grabbed my hand again. I smiled because even though we’d lost our moment, what was happening between us wasn’t going to stop at one kiss. Maybe we would just talk, get to know each other. But if I was right, his lips were made for me and I wasn’t going to let some drunk assholes ruin my moment.
“Wait.” Avery halted us just before we rounded the corner to the pool. “I want to do that again. Tonight,” he said, looking at my mouth.
I smiled. “Me, too.”
“Good.” He smiled back.
