Stepbrother Dearest
By Penelope Ward
Release Date: September 29, 2014
Synopsis
You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.
When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.
I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.
At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. Then, things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.
Just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.
It had been years since I’d seen Elec.
When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.
And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.
I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.
Stepbrother Dearest is a standalone novel.
**Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+

...Interview with the Author...
What is your favorite part of writing a book? I think my favorite part is starting a fresh book, knowing there are endless possibilities of where I could take the story.
Who have been your favorite characters to write so far? Elec in Stepbrother Dearest and Jake. They are very similar: witty, clever, sexy.
What do you have planned next? Jake Understood, the alternate pov/sequel to Jake Undone due in early 2015.
What is your favorite writing ritual? Going out to my yard and sitting on an Adirondack chair in the middle of the day when the neighborhood is quiet and getting some writing in…unless the neighbor’s dog starts barking a lot and ruins it!!
What gets you in the right writing mood? Wine. Especially for sex scenes.
5 or 5 STARS!!!

*I received an ARC from the Author for an honest review.*
I LOVED this book!!! It is written about a topic that is mostly taboo for no real good reason. The title pretty much tells you everything you need to know...well mostly.
So this book opens with Greta being nervous and excited about her new stepbrother coming to live with her, her mom and stepdad for the next year. She was excited because she never had a sibling and nervous because she new he and his father did not have a great relationship. She was not all prepared for who she would meet on that day. She was determined to have a relationship with her new stepbrother only he wanted nothing to do with it. He was down right rude and mean to her only she just could stay away. That is what I loved about her character. She genuinely cared for him without even having a reason to. She wanted to get to know him and who he was and she made all the effort even when his was being an ass.
Elec (by the way... I LOVE that name) is being forced to live with his estranged father, stepmother and stepsister who has been preprogrammed to hate and hate with a vengeance. He is down right ass when he first meets his new sibling. I wanted to hate him when he first arrived because he was just downright awful, but when that second encounter happened with him and Greta I knew that I would not hate him at all. I could not wait for the good stuff to happen.
So the first half of the book takes place while Greta and Elec are both 17 but soon turn 18. We get to see how their relationship formed and also got see how their attraction to each other was undeniable. Eventually Elec opens up to Greta and they have such a strong connection. You can't help but fall in love with the both of them. Only, Elec does put Greta through some stuff and even though she should hate him she never does. I love that about her personality. Somethings happen and Elec has to leave to go and be with his mother, but he leaves behind a broken hearted Greta.
Flash Forward Seven Year...the second half of the book. So Greta is in New York and gets some devastating news that is guaranteed to force her and Elec back into the same house. Only things have happened and neither of them is prepared for the feelings and emotions that will be drawn out.
I loved this book. I loved the emotions, the wit and the overall whole feeling of this book. I can not forget the SEX...oh my the SEX...HOT!! I loved the characters personalities and the fact that they both brought out the best in each other. I love that Elec could only fully open up to Greta. This story is pretty great. It is well written with some pretty heavy stuff that comes out later. The characters are awesome and easy to fall in love with even Sully. I am definitely a huge fan of Penelope Ward's and I can not wait for more from her.
