Blog Tour with Review ... The Sex Education of M.E by L.B. Dunbar

"LB Dunbar has given us a story that will make you love yourself and reach for what you deserve in life. No matter what stage of life you are in I think we can all relate to the emotions! Emme and Merek will set your world ablaze!"
-Schmexy Girl Book Blog

I’m forty, flabby, and frustrated. Don’t get me wrong, I have a good home, a decent job, and great children. I had a loving marriage for twenty years where we had our ups and downs. It wasn’t perfect; but it wasn’t awful. Then he died.

After the grief took its course, and the reality of my life set in, I grew frustrated. It wasn’t the bills or the struggle to keep my interest in my work. It was life without a man – the only man I’d been with for twenty years. And before you go all feminist on me, it isn’t that I can’t be an independent woman, but there are certain areas where a man is necessary.

You need a f*ck buddy, my friend said.
I didn’t even know what that meant.
Is it friends with benefits?, I asked.
Better, you don’t even have to be friends, she offered.

Boy, did I need an education in the modern workings of dating, and sex.

A coming-of-an-older age novel.
Something new from L.B. Dunbar -- a stand alone story!

**I received an ARC for an honest review.**

I LOVED this story. I loved that this couple was older and mature. I loved that both characters were moving on from something in their lives that shaped the people they were. And I loved that both characters and their feelings began to change without them realizing it until it was too late.

Emme is a year old widow and is on a mission of sexual discovery. She isn't looking for love, relationships and anyone else baggage. All she wants is to get laid and boy does she pick the right guy. Merek Elliot is definitely one of those "mature" men that will capture any woman's attention. Even though Emme wasn't one of his usual "dates" he couldn't help his attraction to her and he was helpless to understand why he couldn't get her off his mind.

I enjoyed the relationship that grew with these two people and I loved the behind the scenes stuff that was happening and revealed later in the book. I liked that the two characters lives were more intertwined that I thought they would be and I also liked that neither one of them found it easy to forget the other.

The storyline kept me pulled in and reading for more.  I just couldn't get enough of these two people and I was wanting more. The sexual chemistry that Merek and Emme shared was off the charts and sexy as hell. I love the comedy that was woven into each sexual situation. I loved that at 40 something Emme knew what she wanted...well mostly knew what she wanted.

I don't want to give anything away, because I really dislike that in a review, so I will just say that this book is  great read. I loved these two 40 somethings.

Author Bio:

I’d love to say I’ve written for 10,000 hours, and that makes me a pro. But I can’t say that. What I can say is I had a story in my head that wouldn’t go away. I thought typing it in my computer would be the end of things, but it only led to another story and another. I love reading, so characters in my head isn’t something new. What is new is my creation of them. Hope you enjoy my favorites as much as I do. Happy reading!

Review ... The First Taste by Jessica Hawkins

The First Taste
by Jessica Hawkins

A sexy new standalone romance from the author who brought you Amazon bestseller Slip of the Tongue.

Andrew Beckwith has already devoted his life to one girl--and as far as he's concerned, she's all he needs. The rough-around-the-edges bad boy left his reckless ways behind six years ago when his daughter Bell was born. When Bell's mother walked out on them years ago, he vowed never to let another woman close enough to hurt them again.

Amelia Van Ecken isn't just another woman. She's an independent, smart, and savvy businesswoman who doesn't have time for sex, much less love. In the midst of a drawn-out, bitter divorce, all she wants is to bury herself in work. But when sharp-tongued Amelia and stubborn Andrew cross paths, sparks fly--and burn. Two things are obvious in an instant: they want each other, and they're from different worlds. It's the perfect formula for an off-the-charts one-night stand. After all, it's not as if opposites ever attract.

The First Taste is a standalone spin-off of Slip of the Tongue told in dual POV.

This is my first taste of anything written by this author and I absolutely LOVED her writing style. The First Taste is well written, a tad emotional and sexy as hell. I love a good single parent love story, but Andrew Beckwith is now my favorite single dad.

What was great about these character and their story was the honesty that they had in there relationship from the beginning. When things started to progress and move in a different direction, neither one of them hid it from the other. One of my most favorite parts was when Amelia (Mila) and Bell started to bond. They're relationship progressed slowly, but you could feel the change in Amelia when she was around Bell.

Both characters have a relationship from the past haunting them and making their lives a little more difficult. With the reappearances of their exes it really put things into perspective for Andrew and Amelia. They were both able to realize that they could move on with the right person.

OH MY! The hot sexy parts were OH SO HOT and OH SO SEXY! This might be some of the sexiest reads that I have read this year. Andrew really know how to handle Amelia, he knew all the right ways to open her up and to make her a wanton woman. This book made me really want to have bigger tub and take a bath, it also made me miss smoking and want to try whiskey ;)

New Release and Review ... Furious Rush by S.C. Stephens

Furious Rush
by S.C. Stephens

"Addicting and heart pounding--you won't be able to put it down until you've devoured every word."
--- Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author on Untamed

The first in an emotion-fueled, New Adult series from the #1 bestselling author of the Thoughtless novels.

Too fast, too furious-and way too hot to handle . . .

Mackenzie Cox has a lot to prove. Daughter of a racing legend, she is eager to show the world that she has inherited her father's talent in the male-dominated sport of professional motorcycle racing. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonized by her rival team's newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Plucked from the world of illegal street racing, Hayden immediately gets under Kenzie's skin. His insinuations that Kenzie is a spoiled princess who was handed her career fuels her desire to win, and much to her surprise, Kenzie soon learns she performs better when she's racing against Hayden.

As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense--and strictly forbidden--attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie always does her best to play by the rules, but when her team slips into a financial crisis, she has no choice but to turn to Hayden for help. **I received an ARC for an honest review.**

This is my first read by this author and I have to say that I am a fan. I loved that this storyline was more than just a hot steamy romance, and that the characters actually had some dimension to them.

This book is a single, first person POV that follows Mackenzie Cox around during a life changing part of her life. I love that the storyline focuses completely on her life and her problems, but at the same time the added aspect of Hayden and his life is a nice addition. I like that the two cross paths and that their connection is instant even though unwanted. The two really find themselves with help from the other in this book and I like that they are exactly what the other one needed.

The storyline is a bit slow, but I think I really enjoyed that. I liked that it wasn't rushed and that things evolved naturally. That both characters were living their lives both separately and together. I also liked that throughout the book Kenzie slowly started changing for the better even though she risked her relationship with her father.

There are some shocking things that happen during this book that left me with a gaping mouth, but it also makes me want to continue the series. I really want to know what happens after the end of this book and I will be following this series.

A STANDALONE NOVEL that does NOT need to be read in conjunction with any other book.

From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a friends-to-lovers story with sexy new characters.

After getting dumped, the last thing I needed was to move next door to someone who reminded me of my ex-boyfriend, Elec.

Damien was a hotter version of my ex.

The neighbor I’d dubbed “Angry Artist” also had two massive dogs that kept me up with their barking.

He wanted nothing to do with me. Or so I thought until one night I heard laughter coming through an apparent hole in my bedroom wall.

Damien had been listening to all of my phone sessions with my therapist.

The sexy artist next door now knew all of my deepest secrets and insecurities.

We got to talking.

He set me straight with tips to get over my breakup.

He became a good friend, but Damien made it clear that he couldn’t be anything more.

Problem was, I was falling hard for him anyway. And as much as he pushed me away, I knew he felt the same…because his heartbeat didn’t lie.

I thought my heart had been broken by Elec, but it was alive and beating harder than ever for Damien.

I just hoped he wouldn’t shatter it for good.

Author's note – Neighbor Dearest is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Looking tense, he placed his hands slowly into his pockets as he looked at me. “What exactly happened last night?”
“What are you talking about?”
Nice try dodging the question.
He moved in closer to me. “What am I talking about? You leaving me with a giant fucking basket of muffins and running off before I could even say anything? Ring a bell?”
“I thought you’d be alone. It caught me off guard.”
His eyes softened. “You were upset…”
“No, I wasn’t.”
“You’re a terrible liar, Chelsea. Fucking horrible at it. You don’t hide your feelings very well.”
“You think you know just about everything there is to know about me, don’t you?”
“Not everything. But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to read you. It’s one of the things I like about you, though. You’re one of the least fake people I’ve ever met.”
“Then, tell me. Why do you think I was upset?”
“Honestly? I think you’re confused about me.”
“Yes. I think you’re wondering why I opted not to have dinner with you and instead ended up with a woman I’d literally just met, someone who isn’t as sweet as you and sure as fuck isn’t as pretty as you. So, you’re wondering what the hell I was thinking. Am I right?”
That’s exactly what I was thinking.
He continued, “I know we haven’t known each other for very long, but I do feel a connection with you, okay? If you’ve sensed something, you’re not imagining it.”
“Well, if I wasn’t confused before…now I definitely am.”
“I feel like I need to say this now, because I can’t stand the thought of you thinking that I somehow find you undesirable when it’s exactly the opposite.”
I crossed my arms. “Again. Not following you.”
He closed his eyes as if to try to find the right words. “It’s just that I know for sure that I can’t ever be what someone like you needs in a boyfriend, in a partner. It’s not that we wouldn’t have fun or be great together at first. I’m just not good for you in the long-term—not marriage material. And the reasons are too complex to get into, except to say that it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with me. I can’t, in good conscience, start something with a girl like you.”
“A girl like me…”
“Yes. You’re not the kind of girl a guy takes home for a quick fuck. You’re the girl he keeps.”
Right. Just like Elec did.

**I received an ARC for an honest review.**

Another great read by this author. I often wonder sometimes what comes of the "discarded" characters in books and this book definitely helped to ease that curiosity. I absolutely loved Chelsea and Damien's story and all of the clever wit that went along with it.

I think the way these two characters officially meet is by far one of my favorites. I love that the author infuses comedy into this read as well as the emotional. When we met Chelsea she is still reeling from her break up with Elec (you know from Stepbrother Dearest) and is in a bit of a depressed rut. Enter Damien, Chelsea's sexy and brooding artist neighbor, who also turns out to be so much more. The fact that these two start out as friends, even with the obvious attraction on both ends, was a really nice change of pace. I liked that they both resisted even though it kept getting harder and harder. The sexual tension between these two characters is off the charts and all it took to ignite the fire was one kiss at an unexpected moment. After that one moment things really start to move along and it is really a tough emotional process and more so once all things are out in the open.

I enjoyed Chelsea's relationship with her sister as well as Damien's relationship with his brother. I also am hoping more will come of that little thinks there was some foreshadowing there but who knows ;) I really really really loved the ending to this book. It was very satisfying and really made this story so much better.

As always this is another must read but his author and I will be on the look out for more.
